On the stability of the secular evolution of the planar Sun-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus system

چکیده
We investigate the long time stability of the Sun–Jupiter–Saturn–Uranus system by considering the planar, secular model. Our ethod may be considered as an extension of Lagrange’s theory for the secular motions. Indeed, concerning the planetary orbital evolutions, we improve the classical circular approximation by replacing it with a torus which is invariant up to order two in he masses; therefore, we investigate the stability of the elliptic equilibrium point of the secular system for small values of the ccentricities. For the initial data corresponding to a real set of astronomical observations, we find an estimated stability time of 107 ears, which is not extremely smaller than the lifetime of the Solar System (∼5 Gyr). 2011 IMACS. On the Dynamical Stability of the Solar System
A long-term numerical integration of the classical Newtonian approximation to the planetary orbital motions of the full solar system (Sun+ eight planets), spanning 20Gyr, was performed. The results showed no severe instability arising over this time interval. Subsequently, utilizing a bifurcation method described by Jacques Laskar, two numerical experiments were performed with the goal of deter...
متن کاملGeneralizing the restricted three-body problem. The Bianular and Tricircular coherent problems
In this paper we construct two models for the motion of a particle under the gravitational attraction of Sun, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus, that can be seen as a generalization of the well known Restricted Three-Body Problem (RTBP). Both models are obtained by computing quasi-periodic solutions – with two basic frequencies – of a suitable N-body problem. The first model is based on a quasi-period...
متن کاملStability of Distant Satellites of the Giant Planets in the Solar System
We conduct a systematic survey of the regions in which distant satellites can orbit stably around the four giant planets in the solar system, using orbital integrations of up to 109 yr. In contrast to previous investigations, we use a grid of initial conditions on a surface of section to explore phase space uniformly inside and outside the planet’s Hill sphere (radius rH; satellites outside the...
متن کاملDynamics of Jupiter Trojans during the 2:1 mean motion resonance crossing of Jupiter and Saturn
In the early phase of the Solar System evolution, while the outer planets migrated due to their interaction with a planetesimal disk, Jupiter may have crossed the 2:1 mean motion resonance with Saturn. It is well known (Morbidelli et al. 2005) that this dynamical event has profound consequences on the evolution of an alleged initial Trojan population of Jupiter. In this paper, we analyse in det...
